Hong Kong

February 2005

Doug and Tricia Neal went out to Hong Kong at the invitation of the English Schools Federation to run a week-long series of workshops for teachers concerned with embedding ICT into curriculum contexts. These, highly successful sessions, covering mainstream curriculum ideas developed for the participants, a holistic view of where ICT could be in supporting their teaching and their children’s learning.

March 2006

Doug returned to Hong Kong to work again with teachers at ESF schools but this time with ICT leaders who would become the ‘lead teachers’ in using Textease CT software and to develop key ideas for them in providing their own INSET programmes within their schools

May 2006

Doug returned to continue the work with the ICT leaders and also began an In-service programme with the German/Swiss School on the Peak (working with Graeme Deuchars). This work involved all of the teachers from GIS from Kindergarten to P7 and also extended into the post primary school. This visit also saw a first parent evening at Sha Tin School.

September 2006

The work continued with a 2 day session for the ICT leaders based on the potential of Textease CT to support and enhance developments taking place in the ESF schools with regard to the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate.

This was followed with a second week with the teachers and children at GSIS where new teachers to the school were inducted into the Textease software, continuing teachers went on to develop specific learning objects for their lessons and Kindergarten teachers learned about robots and control software.
